Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Specialist will support multiple Center teams and will work internally at UMD with faculty, staff, and students within the Center, SPH, and UMD colleges and schools, and externally with a wide range of organizations, including local and state agencies, community organizations and coalitions, educational institutions, libraries and information providers, and groups working on health literacy and health information. Activities include meeting and conference planning and execution, activity tracking, website content management, support for grant and contract proposals, and listserv and newsletter management. The position will be funded by a 2 year project

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Elementary knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information; of basic methods and techniques used in organizing and conducting studies and analyses or programs, procedures, and organizations; of basic analytical and statistical principles and techniques.
- Skill in the use of office automation software and its application; in operating manual and automated office equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to present ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; to perform mathematical computations; to present statistical material in chart and graph form.

Additional Information:
Salary range is from $41,944 to $50,332.

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to sit for extended periods, operate office equipment, possess the visual acuity to read from a computer screen or printed report; carry up to 10 pounds and lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects occasionally. Ability to review, prepare, analyze data and figures, transcribe, and engage in extensive reading of materials and computer screens. Transverse on and off campus for events and meetings.
